My perfect day in Bangkok: From Four Seasons head over to the Chaopraya River and charter a private long tail boat, which for a small fee will be your chauffeur on the water for the day. Make your way through the smaller klongs (canals) and discover a whole world of local culture. Spend time at a floating market, with extra attention at the orchid stands, end up for lunch at one of the best local Thai eateries set within the market.
From the River and a morning of exploring, head straight for a traditional Thai massage, must be at least two hours to get you into the perfect place for what is to come that evening. While everyone has their favorites, head to Yogi Bodyworks which is located in an old traditional wooden Thai home. They know where to find the knots that need working.
The perfect evening starts with a few drinks at one of the trendy bars in the Four Seasons neighborhood before heading to Sukhumvit, Soi 11 for dinner. This constantly evolving area has so many new restaurants and outdoor pubs to satisfy every taste. Of course after dinner I would hangout for a while at one of the many Volkswagon bus bars that set up shop on the small streets off Sukhumvit Road. The best people watching anywhere in the city.
My favourite local food: Marinated pork satay and fresh spring rolls stuffed with Lob Gai which you can find at my favorite Guang Heng, a small, family run restaurant tucked away in the Pratunam area, an easy taxi from Four Seasons on New Petchburi Road.
#1 must-do: Allow yourself to wander past the main tourist areas to find the best hidden parts of Bangkok. Whether it’s the perfect shop for that night out on the town outfit or the hidden artist studio that have one-of-a-kind originals of Thai landscapes.
